Each of the five (5) Sub-areas within Area XI have available a $500 scholarship to be awarded to help defray registration and associated costs to attend an AGEHR National Seminar or similar National event. Awards are one-time per recipient. Sub-areas having multiple applicants may petition the Area XI Board, through the Scholarship Committee Chair, for approval of any unused scholarships. CRITERIA FOR AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS:

• Regular membership or affiliated with or ringing in a group that has regular membership in the AGEHR
• Financial need - the scholarship is designed for individuals who would find it financially burdensome to attend on their own
• The reasons why an applicant desires to attend
• The information or skills an applicant hopes to gain by attending
• An individual may receive a scholarship only one time

PROCEDURE AND TIMELINE FOR 2008 SCHOLARSHIPS

• All applications must be submitted to the Sub-Area Chairs on or before April 25, 2008.    Sub-area Chairs

• Sub-area Chairs are to review and submit all approved applications to the Scholarship Chair on or before April 30, 2008. Applications may be submitted electronically via email to ssparlin@dakotacom.net or via 'snail mail' to Sharon Sparlin, 9151 E Showcase Lane, Tucson, AZ 85749.
  
• Scholarship Chair will forward information to the Area XI Executive Committee for concurrence no later than May 6, 2008. A non-reply will constitute concurrence.
• Scholarship Chair will present approved applications to the Board of Directors electronically and ask for concurrence no later than May 13, 2008. A non-reply will constitute concurrence.
• Scholarship Chair will notify approved applicants, along with the Sub-Area Chairs, no later than May 15, 2008
• Applicants pay registration fees and/or any other related expenses up front. Scholarship award vouchers are submitted to the Area XI Secretary/Treasurer no later than 10 days after the end of the National event. A report addressed to the Area XI Board of Directors MUST accompany the voucher request.
